Bobby Traviss founds R.K. Traviss Design in 1972 in Bay of Islands New Zealand
Over 30 years, the company completes 977 projects in New Zealand’s Northland region, building a reputation for architectural excellence.

The second era begins as Nicholas Traviss joins the business, transforming it into Traviss Design.
Traviss Design establishes itself internationally, partnering with leading experts to complete over 150 aquarium projects.

Bob Traviss passes, leaving his legacy to Nicholas, who continues to grow and diversify the business.

Aquamarine Projects emerges, expanding into nature parks, botanic gardens, water parks, and discovery centers while championing sustainable Eco-Aquarium and Biome developments.

Acquires the Marinescape Legacy, preserving a 40-year legacy as a founding member of the aquarium industry.

In 2024, Aquamarine Projects acquired the Marinescape Intellectual Property, securing a 40-year legacy as a pioneer of the modern aquarium industry. Marinescape transformed public aquariums with innovations like the SeaTube®, the world’s first walk-through acrylic tunnel, introduced in 1984.
Over its history, Marinescape completed 24 profitable aquariums across four continents, attracting over 250 million visitors, with standout projects like the Greater Cleveland Aquarium, Turkuazoo Aquarium, and the Malta National Aquarium.
By integrating Marinescape’s expertise, Aquamarine continues to expand the frontiers of sustainable design, immersive storytelling, and nature-based entertainment, reinforcing our leadership in the global aquarium and biome industry.
