Set over 3,500 square meters within the Songdowon International Children's Camp, Sindok Aquarium was a pioneering feat in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Sindok Aquarium brings the underwater world closer than ever before to the North Korean people and international student delegations from countries such as Russia, Pakistan, Tanzania, and China.

Although small by international standards, there is a large variety of sea life including turtles and sharks.

Even though there were several challenges with approvals and trade restraints due to the diplomatic isolation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, we worked with the local government to ensure the completion of the project.

As the first public aquarium in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, this was an exciting milestone for the Aquarium community and citizens of North Korea too. It paved the way for other aquarium projects to begin in the nation, such as the National Aquarium in Pyongyang.
