The Westgate Biome in Northwest Auckland, New Zealand, is a visionary project by Aquamarine that redefines the relationship between people and nature. Designed as a landmark destination for entertainment, education, and sustainability, it brings together authentic natural habitats from New Zealand and across the Polynesian Triangle within one immersive living environment.

Visitors will journey through interconnected ecosystems, from lush tropical and subtropical botanical gardens to oceanariums, terrariums, and aviaries, all carefully designed to replicate real-world habitats and showcase biodiversity while fostering ecological awareness.

At the heart of the experience are the Discovery Center and Subterranean Exploratorium, which feature interactive exhibits, digital installations, and rotating educational programs. These spaces invite visitors of all ages to explore conservation, geology, and global environmental challenges through storytelling, guided tours, and hands-on learning.

Family-friendly amenities include adventure playgrounds, treetop walks, and water-based play areas, complemented by sustainable dining options and eco-focused retail. Accessibility and comfort are prioritized, with tranquil rest zones, barrier-free navigation, and inclusive design throughout.

What sets the Westgate Biome apart is its distinction as the world’s first facility to combine a large indoor botanical garden with a commercial oceanarium. Guided by biophilic design principles, its architecture embraces natural light, passive ventilation, and green infrastructure such as living walls and rainwater harvesting systems. Beyond visitor appeal, the Biome serves as a hub for conservation and sustainability, housing breeding programs for endangered species, climate-focused educational initiatives, and community workshops.

Through its holistic approach, the Westgate Biome is more than a destination, it is a living classroom and a catalyst for change, inspiring visitors to engage with nature and take part in building a more sustainable future.
