The New National Aquarium of New Zealand in Napier is undergoing a comprehensive renovation and expansion, managed by Aquamarine, transforming it into a state-of-the-art educational and conservation hub. Upon completion, the facility will span 10,000 square meters, significantly expanding public and exhibition spaces while enhancing visitor engagement.

Drawing inspiration from Napier’s rich Art Deco heritage, the redesign incorporates Streamline Moderne architectural elements, creating an immersive journey through New Zealand’s diverse aquatic environments. Visitors will explore a series of interconnected habitats, from mountain streams to coastal waters, designed to educate and inspire.

Aquamarine’s scope includes high-level concept development, architectural upgrades, specialist technical design, and modern interior and exhibit planning, integrating advanced interactive technologies such as augmented reality, digital displays, and educational storytelling.
