Kogalym, Russia
The Yaranga Botanical Gardens is an ambitious destination project in Kogalym, Western Siberia, commissioned by a community initiative led by Lukoil. Conceived as both a botanical garden and cultural center, the project brings the wonder of a tropical rainforest to one of the world’s harshest climates while paying tribute to the heritage of the region’s indigenous peoples. The vision was to create more than just an indoor tropical forest, it needed a brand identity that captured the spirit of adventure, discovery, and education, appealing equally to tourists and local residents.

Our creative strategy centered on blending exotic nature with local heritage. The very name “Yaranga”, a traditional dome-shaped dwelling of the nomadic peoples of the North, inspired the project’s visual identity. Its dome silhouette and indigenous motifs became the foundation for the brand, interwoven with lush rainforest imagery and vibrant colors. The resulting design feels both familiar and exploratory: a warm, dome-like enclosure filled with tropical life. Clear, welcoming typography and design elements ensured the educational mission remained accessible and engaging.

We delivered a complete brand package, including name consultation and logo design, entrance signage and wayfinding, exhibit graphics, brochures, posters, website design, and a comprehensive visual style guide covering color palettes, typography, and imagery. Every touchpoint was designed to carry the same tropical and cultural spirit.
The Yaranga brand has built a strong sense of place even before the gardens’ opening. By weaving local cultural symbols with a rainforest-inspired aesthetic, the identity has generated community pride, public excitement, and media interest. From the first encounter with the logo and signage, visitors understand they are entering a space that is both culturally significant and wondrously exotic. This cohesive branding has positioned Yaranga as a must-visit eco-tourism destination, expected to provide lasting educational value while celebrating both nature and culture in Siberia.
