The Tourism Masterplan for Mambong N19 has been created to harness the natural beauty and cultural richness of the region, positioning it as a leading destination for sustainable tourism in Sarawak. Developed under the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency, the plan highlights the area’s ecological and cultural assets, ensuring that new opportunities for visitors translate directly into lasting benefits for local communities. Aquamarine has been entrusted with developing a series of tourism ventures, sourcing investment, and overseeing their operations and management to bring this vision to life.

At the heart of the masterplan is the preservation of Bidayuh culture, with initiatives that celebrate traditional art, music, and architecture while supporting artisans and cultural events. Equally central is the conservation of Mambong’s pristine rainforests and river systems, with proposals to pursue UNESCO recognition that would protect these ecosystems as sanctuaries for biodiversity and as attractions for eco-conscious travellers. Community participation is key throughout, ensuring that local residents are not only involved but are also the primary beneficiaries of tourism growth.

To support this transformation, infrastructure improvements will enhance both safety and comfort, with better road and river access to iconic sites such as Kampung Kiding and the Semenggoh Wildlife Park. Sustainability underpins every aspect of the plan, guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals, with initiatives that minimize environmental impact while maximizing community uplift. Educational facilities will be introduced to connect visitors more deeply with the region’s wildlife and traditions, fostering awareness and respect for Sarawak’s natural and cultural heritage. Looking ahead, the long-term vision is to create a self-sustaining tourism ecosystem that welcomes global visitors while protecting the environment and enriching the lives of local people. By weaving together cultural preservation, ecological stewardship, and inclusive growth, the Mambong N19 Tourism Masterplan lays the foundation for a vibrant, resilient, and sustainable future.
